Mahant Lachhman Dass Ji was a philanthropic social worker of Talwandi Kalan. He worked at the prestigious designations of the society due to his multitalented personality. To make his remembrance long lasting, the precious pilgrim of education, Mahant Lachhman Dass School was started in April 1993 and running by Mahant Lachhman Dass Educational Society, Talwandi Kalan (Registed Number 1300). It is a Co-educational institute, situated in the healthy surroundings, away from the hurly-burly of city. Having its own customs with imposing characteristics, it is the idealist institute for the learners coming from middle class rural families with a best deal.
              Harmonious development of the learners with inculcating better habits, qualifying them at par the need of the time and providing education without bootlegging are the main Principles of this institute. The students of State Education Board classes i.e. Vth, VIIIth and Xth are the Merit holders in Punjab Merit List. Computer Education is implemented as a subject on the guidelines of Punjab School Education Board. In co-curricular activities like Sports, Educational Competitions, Painting etc., M.L.D. 1.  MLD School feels a great pleasure to honour its scholars.  The student securing a position in the Punjab State Merit List of Board       Exams  is honoured with 24K Gold Medal on the Annual Prize Distribution Function of the session.  Till January 2006 Four Students      (All four are  the girls) have won the Gold Medal.
2.  MLD School senses a vast satisfaction to honour its students, who bring laurels to the institute in various competitions.  They are      honoured regularly during the session .
3. The students showing marvellous performance at State Level in any Competition are awarded the highest and most prestigious award      of  MLD School "Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Award" on the Annual Prize Distribution Function of the session.
